Usher Wants To Collaborate With Justin Timberlake
Usher has revealed one collaboration that is still on his wish list: Justin Timberlake.
In a recent interview with People, the 2024 Super Bowl Halftime Show performer expressed his respect for the former NSYNC member and his admiration for his talent.
“I’ve always wanted to do a record with Justin and have reached out many times, but we’ve never managed to make it happen. I think that he’s an amazing performer,” Usher said.
“I think that he has a legacy that should be respected and not compared to anybody else,” he continued. “Do I feel at times that the score was a bit unfair in terms of how people even judged us or some of the things that may have been given to him? He had better management staff, you know what I’m saying? Access to things I didn’t. I’m cool with that.”
Speaking to competition that fans created in the early 2000s regarding the two R&B crooners, he added, “I’m in competition with no one other than myself, and I’ve always tried to beat my own record. Beat my own expectations and try and better myself. And if anything, I’ve been motivated by people like Justin.”
“I’m confident enough to celebrate any and every artist and can stand on the stage with any of them, and we entertain and have a great time because music is a place of celebration,” he added.
Both stars are gearing up to release new music and head out on tour. Usher recently announced his ninth studio album Coming Home and his accompanying tour set to launch in August. Justin also broke news of his forthcoming sixth studio LP Everything I Thought It Was and its tour kicking off in April.
